Fr. Peter (Martin) Duggan of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was born and baptized in the Blessed Sacrament Parish, Jamaica Plains, Massachusetts (birthdate: March 25, 1931); he attended the Blessed Sacrament parochial school and graduated from Mission High School, Roxbury, Massachusetts; he entered the Carmelite Novitiate in Brookline, Massachusetts in 1948 and made his First Profession, August 15, 1949. He completed his philosophical studies in our House of Philosophy, Holy Hill, Wisconsin and his theological studies at our House of Theology in Washington, DC, and was ordained on December 22, 1956.

Fr. Peter served as a teacher in our former Minor Seminary at Peterborough, New Hampshire, and eventually became its Rector. He later served as Pastor at St. Florian Parish, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and as Novice Master when our Novitiate was located at Waverly, New York. He also served a term as Vicar Provincial of this Province. At the time of his last illness, he was assigned to our monastery in Washington, giving retreats and directing the Discalced Carmelite Secular Order in that area. Fr. Peter died on November 25, 1984 and is buried at the Carmelite Cemetery, Hubertus, Wisconsin.
