Fr. Paul (Albert) Trementozzi of St. Teresa was born on August 27, 1927, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to parents Albert and Mary (nee Good) Trementozzi. He was clothed in the Carmelite habit on August 27, 1947; made his simple profession on June 4, 1955, was ordained to the priesthood June 4, 1955.

Among his priestly ministries, Fr. Paul engaged in retreat work, spiritual direction and pastoral counseling. He served as provincial counselor (1975-1981), superior of the province’s retreat house in Peterborough, New Hampshire and as spiritual assistant for several communities of Secular Carmelites in the East and Midwest.

Fr. Paul received a Master of Arts degree in religious education from the College of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Washington, DC and a D.Min from Andover Newton Theological School in Newtown Centre, Massachusetts. He also held a Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Studies from Boston City Hospital.

In 1999, Fr. Paul visited the Province’s African Mission. There, Fr. Paul left this impression (taken from file notes):

“Fr. Paul loved Africa and Africa loved Fr. Paul. Wherever he went in Africa, to preach to our Carmelite nuns, to share his life experiences with our Carmelite students, to visit and greet the indigenous people of East Africa he was well received. He was adventurous too! He once took a six hour bus trip over rough roads and even rough terrain, to visit our nuns in Tindinyo. He visited the open air market in Nairobi. There he met and greeted the various vendors selling everything from peas to paw paws, potatoes to pineapples and other seasonal fruits and vegetables. Fr. Paul never tired of talking to the Kenyans and sharing with them their and his treasured experiences. He could always be spotted in any crowd by his distinctive walking stick and in his inimitable laughter. Fr. Paul was the consummate priest who loved the priesthood and who used his many gifts to reach out and to touch hearts.”

Fr. Paul entered eternal life on October 21, 2002. He is buried in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
